Diesel and petrol in Britain subjected to biggest fuel price increases in Europe

Motorists in Britain have been on the sharp end of the highest fuel price increases in Europe in the last five years. Back in 2007 a litre of unleaded petrol was around £0.97 while today it is around £1.35. Oil prices have fallen by 25% since March but this has not been mirrored at the fuel pumps. Drivers are hoping that the Government scraps its planned fuel tax hike in August – the prospect of even more expensive petrol and diesel is likely to fuel anger among motoring members of the electorate.
