“I’ll have you for this …” – council fines motorists for using bus lanes

Stan and Jack, two of the key characters from a comedy show about a bus company may have welcomed the move by a city council that has handed out over 3,000 fines to drivers who used bus lanes during the restricted hours in a two-week period.  Each penalty is for £30 if paid within a fortnight, rising to £60 thereafter. Jack was the conductor and Stan the driver and they were frequently behind schedule leading to incidents which fuelled much of the humour, so the idea of the bus lanes being free of cars, vans, lorries etc would be likely to have appealed to them and their inspector, whose catch phrase began “I’ll have you for this”.  Visit for more information.
