Motorists squander £18m

Motoring can be expensive – diesel and petrol bills, maintenance, duty etc – and yet some drivers are haphazardly adding to the costs. Motorists who were issued with penalty notices – including speeding tickets – and then failed to pay on time were faced with increases in the fines of 50%. One in three fines were paid late in 2010, leading to a mind-boggling increase of £18m. Visit and see which areas were punctual payers and which had money to burn.
