Proposed increases in fixed penalty notices fuel anger among some motorists

Hard-hit motorists have mixed reactions to news that fixed penalty notices may increase by 50%, for example from £60 to £90 if government proposals receive the green light. Some drivers feel the increase represents a better deterrent while the proposals are fuelling anger among others. The increase would generate in the region of an extra £100m if driving offences were at the same level as 2010.
